If you happen to use a 'lift' that overlooks the street it's fine.
Most lifts or elevators within mirrored enclosures can be quite a 'lifting' experience. I believe these mirrors within elevators were a result of many heads that worked together. A brilliant idea you say? Well...! it serves as a distraction to divert ones attention to something she /he loves the most...herself/himself! And yes, the time consumed in the mirrored space is forgotten until the door magically open. Oops, were you caught in an act meant only for your mirror?
And have you experienced the 'not so comfortable' silence too? Sometimes you want move away to avoid the uncomfortable closeness and then want to tell the guys rushing in to hold on and take the next one. Ya....and you don't quite want to show your self indulgence and pretent to be in deep thought...actually surveying the unkempt toe nails of the one next to you. Ha! And have you observed....it is usually the men who instantly begin to settle their hair as they watch themselves with great admiration? Ha ha! The next time you are in the elevator, smile into the mirror....and look at the various expressions of the others as they watch you.....quite a 'lifting' experience. You may as well appreciate the various forms that God creates tirelessly! Have a great elevation!

Real Good one Shob! :-) There is also the forgetting act, you just enter and forget to press the appropriate button and are at the mercy of being lifted up or lifted down! Quite a lift it provides to the mundanity to going up and coming down, this lifting thing!
